Day 1 SYDNEY – TOKYO Sun 16 OCT

Day flight to Narita airport and transfer to hotel in Tokyo.

Day 2 TOKYO – KYOTO Mon 17 OCT

Morning, visit Asakusa temple and stroll down the colourful Nakamise shopping arcade.
Afternoon, travel to Kyoto by Bullet train. Kyoto is officially one of Japan’s Top destinations. If you are lucky, view famous Mt. Fuji from bullet train window. Upon arrival at Kyoto, visit Kiyomizu temple overlooking the city. Part of the fun of visiting Kiyomizu temple is the approach to the temple along the steep and busy lanes of the atmospheric Higashiyama. Check in at hotel for 3 nights. Welcome dinner at hotel.

Day 3 KYOTO & NARA Tue 18 OCT

Morning, meet in the hotel lobby for your sightseeing tour of Kyoto and Nara, visiting Nijo Castle, The Golden Pavilion and Handicraft centre. Afternoon, travel to Nara, the ancient capital of Japan and visit Nara Todaiji temple and Nara deer park.

Day 4 KYOTO Wed 19 OCT

Today enjoy walking tours. Morning, visit Sagano Arashiyama district . The area provides a taste of the Kyoto countryside and is famous for its bamboo grove and specialty handcraft shops including pottery, Japanese rice paper, bamboo craft and handmade clay bell shops. Afternoon, visit New in 2016! Fushimi Inari famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates.

Day 5 KYOTO – MT. KOYA – OSAKA Thu 20 OCT

2016 New destination!
Enjoy a day visit to Mt. Koya, Kongobuji temple, home to the largest rock garden in Japan and Okuno-in where it is believed that Kobo-taishi is still in eternal meditation after almost 1,200 years. Travel on to Osaka.

Day 6 OSAKA – HIMEJI – OKAYAMA Fri 21 OCT

Himeji Castle as New destination for 2016 !
Bullet train to Himeji which is most famous for its magnificent Himeji Castle, widely considered to be Japan’s most beautiful surviving feudal castle. The castle is designated both a national treasure and a UNESCO world heritage site. Travel then to Okayama and stay for 2 nights.

Day 7 OKAYAMA – HIROSHIMA – OKAYAMA Sat 22 OCT

Morning, travel to Hiroshima by bullet train. Visit Hiroshima Peace museum and Miyajima Island, a small island famous for Itsukushima Shrine & floating torii gate, officially one of Japan’s “Top 3 Views” and another well-known UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 8 OKAYAMA – KANAZAWA Sun 23 OCT

Morning, travel on to the samurai town, Kanazawa. Upon arrival visit Kanazawa’s old geisha district, Gold Leaf and famous Kutani Pottery workshops, the former samurai residential area and the Kenrokuen gardens which are one of Japan’s most famous. Stay in Kanazawa 2 nights.

Day 9 KANAZAWA – TAKAYAMA – SHIRAKAWAGO Mon 24 OCT

Travel on to Shirakawago Ogimachi, and explore this small, world heritage listed village, nestled in the mountains beside a pristine mountain river. Travel to another old town Takayama, whose isolation has allowed Edo period streets, lined with tiny shops, museums and eating places, to survive to this day. Return to Kanazawa.

DAY 10 KANAZAWA — NOZAWA New! Tue 25 OCT

Travel by New Hokuriku Line Bullet Train to Nozawa. Afternoon visit famous Nagano snow monkey park in hot spring. Transfer to Nozawa, a 370 year old authentic hot spring Onsen with a quaint village atmosphere. Enjoy a dip in the Onsen and a traditional dinner at a Ryokan.

DAY 11 NOZAWA – KISO / OHTSUMAGO New! Wed 26 OCT

Travel to Magome & Tsumago, a town seldom visited by group tours, where cars are banned and signs of modernity such as power lines are hidden to maintain the old style ambiance. After strolling along the old streets, enjoy a stay at a local inn including traditional home cooking, sleeping Japanese style and a traditional Japanese bath.

DAY 12 KISO VALLEY / OHTSUMAGO – TOKYO Thu 27 OCT

Enjoy walking from Ohtsumago to Tsumago village (20 minutes). Mid day, after strolling along the old streets of Tsumago, transfer to the train station and travel back to Tokyo. Check in at hotel in Tokyo for 3 nights.

DAY 13 TOKYO – MT. FUJI & HAKONE – TOKYO Fri 28 OCT

Full day trip to Mt. Fuji & Hakone region. Enjoy picturesque Hakone, a Lake Ashi cruise and ropeway ride. Lunch at local lakeside restaurant. Return to Tokyo.

DAY 14 TOKYO Sat 29 OCT

Day at leisure. Perhaps join a local tour to visit Nikko or Kamakura. We are happy to arrange them in advance. Alternatively, you may wish to go to Ginza and Roppongi for window shopping, or to the electrical town of Akihabara. Your tour escort will help organise your day. Farewell dinner at hotel.
