This tour has been designed to cover many of the most famous destinations in Japan, from the Northern island of Hokkaidoto the Southern island of Okinawa. A fully escorted small tour over 21 days provides a wonderful opportunity to see Japan up close. The beauty and tranquillity of Hokkaido and its fascinating Ainu (Japanese aboriginal) culture; the rustic charm of Tohoku in Northern Honshu and a stay in a traditional Japanese inn and in an old samurai town; the bustle and excitement of vibrant Tokyo and the cultured charm of the traditional capital Kyoto will provide a kaleidoscope of experiences. Stroll through exotic locations in Kyoto familiar to many travellers from movies such as “Memoirs of a Geisha”. Visit hidden places which other package tours do not offer. Visit majestic Mt. Fuji and poignant Hiroshima and the nearby beautiful floating shrine of Miyajima Island; the secluded island paradise of Okinawa (once a separate kingdom) and nearby Ishigaki. Stay in Onsen resorts and experience a traditional Japanese onsen (hot spring bath). Mingle with the locals in morning markets and local shopping streets as they shop for their families. Perhaps make a private home visit to get a feel for everyday Japanese life (special Janesco offer). Day 1 TOKYO – SAPPORO (2 nights)
Arrive Tokyo/Narita, Travel on to Sapporo. Transfer to hotel in Sapporo.SPECIAL BONUS: Early May departure group might be lucky enough to catch Cherry Blossoms in Sapporo, Otaru & Hakodate.

Day 2 OTARU
Visit Otaru, port town. The town’s nostalgic, old fashioned atmosphere is enhanced by its architecture and layout and its picturesque canal. Afternoon, visit Ainu (Japanese aborigine) outdoor museum to learn about their culture.

Day 3 SAPPORO – HAKODATE (1 nights)
Travel from Sapporo to Hakodate by JR train along coastline of Southern Hokkaido. Afternoon, morning market, Motomachi town and its unique blend of Japanese and western architecture. Perhaps visit Mt. Hakodate for spectacular night lights of Hakodate town and bay, ride Hakodate rope-way.

DAY 4 HAKODATE – OIRASE (1 nights)
Morning, travel from Hakodate to Aomori by express train; Bus though Hakkodasan National park. Enjoy spectacular Oirase Gorge slow walk. Check in at luxury Oirase Keiryu hotel and enjoy Japanese style accommodation and Onsen hot spring bath.SPECIAL BONUS:12th October departure group might be lucky enough to catch Autumn colour in Hakkodasan National park. Day 5 OIRASE – SENDAI – TOKYO (2 nights)
Morning transfer to Hachinohe station to board bullet train to travel for Sendai. Visit Matsushima with view of Matsushima Bay. Travel on
to Tokyo. Your choice: visit Zuiganji, Kanrantei, the country house of a feudal lord.

Enjoy Tokyo walking tour including Asakusatemple, the colourful Nakamise shopping street, Imperial Palace plaza, Meiji shrine and Harajuku Omotesando.

Day 7 TOKYO – MT. FUJI & HAKONE
Morning, travel to Mt. Fuji & Hakone region by bullet train. Enjoy a view of the famous Mt. Fuji and picturesque Hakone including the lake Ashi cruise and ropeway. Stay at Onsen (hot spring) Resort.

Day 8 MT. FUJI & HAKONE – KANAZAWA
Travel to Kanazawa, an old samurai town.
Afternoon, sightseeing tour visiting Kanazawa’s old district, the former samurai residential area, the Kenrokuen one the most famous gardens of Japan.

Day 9 SHIRAKAWAGO – TAKAYAMA
Morning tour of Kanazawa visit old district of Higashichayagai gold Leaf workshop, the former samurai residential area and Kenrokuen garden, one of Japan’s most famous. Afternoon, visit heritage listed village Shirakawago , and another old town Takayama with its Edo period streets, tiny shops & museums still intact. Return to Kanazawa.

DAY 10 KANAZAWA – KYOTO (3 nights)

Kyoto sightseeing tour of the Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle. Afternoon, visit Kyomizu Temple overlooking the city. DAY 13 KYOTO – HIROSHIMA (1 night)
Morning, travel by a Bullet train to Hiroshima and Miyajima Island to enjoy the famous floating Itsukushima Shrine and Torii gate. Then on to the Peace Park to visit the atomic bomb Museum.

DAY 14 HIROSHIMA – NAGASAKI (1 night)
Travel to Nagasaki. Afternoon at leisure.Optional choice:Perhaps visit the home of Madame Butterfly, who inspired the famous opera by Puccini. Visit 100 year old Glover Mansion.

DAY 15 NAGASAKI – ISHIGAKI IS. (2 nights)
Transfer to Fukuoka airport to catch flight for Okinawa Ishigaki Is. via Fukuoka & Naha Upon arrival transfer to hotel. Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 16 ISHIGAKI IS. (Okinawa)
Day at leisure. Ishigaki is a small village of traditional singlestoried houses, covered with red tiled roofs, surrounded by stone walls, and guarded by lionlike shiza statues to ward of evil spirits. Kaiji Beach is known for its sand which is shaped like tiny stars. Perhaps enjoy water buffalo drawn cart tours, or visit some more little Islands, eg. Taketomi Island.

DAY 17 ISHIGAKI IS. – NAHA (2 nights)
Travel from Ishigakijima Island to Naha by plane.
Upon arrival, a sightseeing tour of Naha, visiting Shuri
castle, drive through main street Kokusai dori, (cont’n)

Morning, travel to Tokyo. Check-in at luxury hotel for

relax or to fill with whatever interests you. Perhaps

the electric town of Akihabara. Your tour escort will
help organise your activity. Farewell dinner at hotel.

Enjoy your last day in Japan with some last
minute souvenir hunting or an optional half day activity.
Perhaps follow your escort to Edo museum which
is a facility to preserve the historical heritage of
Edo-Tokyo. Late afternoon, leave hotel for Narita
airport by bus, depart from Narita.
