|Day flight to Narita airport and transfer to hotel in Tokyo Light supper at hotel.

|Sightseeing tour of Tokyo including Imperial Palace/Niju Bashi bridge, Tokyo observation deck, Asakusa temple and a stroll down the colourful Nakamise shopping arcade. Lunch included.

|Day 3 MT. FUJI & HAKONE||SUN 10 NOV|
|Travel to Mt. Fuji & Hakone region and enjoy picturesque Hakone including the lake Ashi cruise and ropeway. Lunch at local restaurant by the lakeside. Check in at Onsen (hot spring resort). Welcome dinner.

|Day 4 HAKONE – KYOTO||MON 11 NOV|
|Travel on to Kyoto by Bullet train. Afternoon, visit Kiyomizu temple overlooking the city. Part of the fun of visiting Kiyomizu temple is the approach to the temple along the steep and busy lanes of the atmospheric Higashiyama.

|Day 5 KYOTO – NARA||TUE 12 NOV|
|Full day sightseeing tour of Kyoto & Nara visiting Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle. Afternoon, travel for Nara, the ancient capital of Japan and visit Todaiji temple, Nara deer park, Kasuga shrine. Return to Kyoto. Dinner at hotel.

|Day at leisure. Enjoy optional tours such as Osaka tour, dinner, Geisha dance and Gion district evening walking tour.

|Day 7 KYOTO – HIROSHIMA – OKAYAMA||THU 14 NOV|
|Mid morning, travel to Hiroshima. Visit the Hiroshima Peace museum. and Miyajima Island, a small island, famous for Itsukushima Shrine & floating torii gate, an officially one of Japan’s Top 3 Views and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stay in Okayama for 3 nights

|Day 8 IYA VALLEY – TAKAMATSU – New !||FRI 15 NOV|
|Cross inland sea, visit Takamatsu Ritsurin Park which is the largest national special scenic Beauty Garden, made up of 6 ponds and 13 hills beautifully arranged against the green pine trees as well as many stone arrangements that evolve into the wonderful style of the early Edo era. Afternoon, visit Iya Valley which is one of Japan’s three hidden valleys. Its tall peaks and deep gorges were historically a safe haven for the Heike Clan after their defeat by the rival Genji Clan during civil wars of the 12th century.

|Day 9 BICHU TAKAHASHI – FUKIYA New !||SAT 16 NOV|
|Visit Takahashi, a well preserved old town which is home to samurai residences & merchant houses that date back to the Edo Period. Visit Matsuyama Castle which sits high up on the mountain above town and is the only original mountaintop castle and the oldest surviving castle in Japan. Also visit Fukiya Village, an Edo style town with many traditional houses which remain since the Edo period. It is also known as the town of “Bengara”, which is a coloured ink made from oxidized iron produced in this area during the Edo period.

|DAY 10 OKAYAMA – KURASHIKI – KANAZAWA||SUN 17 NOV|
|Morning, travel to Kurashiki a well preserved Edo period mercantile town. Enjoy a stroll through this fascinating town. Then travel on to Kanazawa.

|DAY 11 KANAZAWA||MON 18 NOV|
|Sightseeing tour to Kanazawa’s old geisha district, Gold Leaf and famous Kutani Pottery workshops, the former samurai residential area and the Kenrokuen garden which is one of Japan’s most famous gardens. Afternoon at leisure.

|DAY 12 KANAZAWA – SHIRAKAWAGO – TAKAYAMA||TUE 19 NOV|
|Travel to a Japanese rice paper workshop and learn how traditional paper is made. Travel on to Shirakawago Ogimachi, a small world heritage listed village, nestled in the mountains beside a pristine mountain river. Travel to another old town Takayama whose isolation has allowed Edo period streets, lined with tiny shops, museums and eating places, to survive to this day. Return to Kanazawa.

|Morning at leisure. Mid day travel back to Tokyo. Check in for 2 nights.

|Day at leisure. Perhaps visit Nikko, Kamakura, or go to Ginza and Roppongi for window shopping, or to the electrical town of Akihabara. Your tour coordinator will help organise your activity.
